Main local town
High Wycombe
This busy commuter town is also a furniture-making centre and the history of its principal industry is traced in the Wycombe Local History and Chair Museum, in an 18th-century house in the grounds of the former castle. On the town's northern fringes is Hughenden Manor, a Georgian house renovated in Victorian Gothic style in the 1860s for Benjamin Disraeli, prime minister in 1868 and from 1874 to 1880. The house contains mementoes of Disraeli and exhibits that illustrate his career. Hughenden Manor is also home to the world famous Hellfire Club and the caves where they met are open during the season.
